Advansis Media officially releases the Coconut Grove website developed for the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District.
The site was redeveloped to allow the BID members to easily update contents and publish board meeting notes and allow the public to interact in two spectrums; 1) use the site as a directory of Coconut Grove based businesses and allow visitors to view current events 2) allow the site to become a gateway of information for BID members, the Board of Directors and the general public. RFPs RFQs and other documents can be accessed easily on the site.
“We are very proud to have the opportunity to work with the BID and committees to put the site together in record time and have the support of several Grove businesses in the process!” said Fabio Iannelli, Interactive Director at Advansis.

As apple prepares to release iOS 5 they have added a new feature which was missing in 3 and 4… Instant camera access when the phone is locked! Let’s say you are walking down the road and you see something you need a picture of right away.. In old days (or present day for non beta users) you pull out the phone, hit the home button, slide to unlock, type in your 4 number pin and fumble to find the camera app, open it, wait for it to load and then take the picture. Now with iOS 5 all you need to do is pull the phone out and double click the home button and a new camera icon appears next to the slide to unlock slider! Press it and it loads the camera with no access to your library (for security of your pictures) so it loads very quickly! You can the take your picture as normal by pressing the screen or use the new feature of pressing the volume button.

Advansis Media LLC released the iPhone App, now available on the iTunes store for Free. The Coconut Grove Arts Festival (CGAF) organizing committee asked Advansis to develop a mobile app for the CGAF’s annual event in February.
The App is actually a shell for the mobile friendly site, which also works with Android phones. Statistics on the site showed that after Windows and Mac computers iOS based devices were the largest volume of visitors to the cgaf.com site, so we decided to develop an iOS app. The 4th most used operating system is Android, so we coded it to work on android as well.
The iOS app can be downloaded from iTunes
The mobile site can be accessed from iOS or Android at http://www.cgaf.com/m

This update brings multitasking to the iPad and several new features to create a digital management functionality between apple devices…
full Press Release follows:
CUPERTINO, California—November 22, 2010—Apple® today announced that iOS 4.2, the latest version of the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, is available today for download for iPad™, iPhone® and iPod touch®. iOS 4.2 brings over 100 new features from iOS 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 to iPad including Multitasking, Folders, Unified Inbox, Game Center, AirPlay® and AirPrint.
“iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Once again, the iPad with iOS 4.2 will define the target that other tablets will aspire to, but very few, if any, will ever be able to hit.”
iPad users can now run their favorite apps and switch between them instantly, while preserving iPad’s legendary battery life. Users can organize their apps with drag-and-drop simplicity using Folders, and Mail now features a Unified Inbox, fast inbox switching and a threaded message view.
Game Center allows iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users to challenge and play friends or be matched automatically with new opponents, showcase their scores and achievements, and discover new games their friends are playing.
AirPlay is a new feature for streaming music, video and photos wirelessly from iPad, iPhone and iPod touch to Apple TV®, transforming Apple TV into a great accessory for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. iOS users also will be able to use AirPort Express® and AirPlay to stream wirelessly to any stereo or powered speakers, or directly to AirPlay-enabled speakers coming to market in the months ahead.
AirPrint is a next-generation Wi-Fi print architecture that dramatically simplifies printing by completely eliminating printer drivers. A selection of AirPrint enabled printers including the HP Photosmart, HP LaserJet Pro and HP Officejet will be the first to support printing direct from iOS devices. iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users can simply tap to print their documents or photos wirelessly to any printer that supports AirPrint.
The Find My iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch) feature is now free to use without a MobileMe℠ subscription and helps you locate your missing device.* The Find My iPhone app is a free download on the App Store℠ and lets users easily locate a missing device on a map and have it display a message or play a sound. Users can even remotely lock or wipe data from a lost device to protect privacy.
Other new features that iOS 4.2 brings to the iPad include: the ability to rent TV episodes directly to iPad using the iTunes® App with a 30 day viewing window and a 48 hour session window once playback is started; the ability to easily find and highlight specific words and phrases on web pages in Safari®; enhanced enterprise support so businesses can take advantage of stronger security features, new device management capabilities and improved enterprise integration; industry-leading accessibility enhancements; and support for 25 additional languages, including Korean, Portuguese and Traditional Chinese.

Traditional Miamians know of Coconut Grove. Tourists know of Coconut Grove. Hollywood stars know of Coconut Grove. Do you?
Coconut Grove is a part of Miami- once it’s own city, it was absorbed by the city of Miami in the mid1920′s. Miami’s City Hall is located in the building that once used to be the PanAm water plane terminal and was beautifully restored maintaining the historical details of the building– in, you guessed it, Coconut Grove! Once home to the Queen of Pop(Madonna), Rambo(Stallone), the creator of plastic, the place where the King of Pop(Michael Jackson) recorded part of his “Thriller” video, the place where Jim Morrison infamously exposed himself ‘indecently’ and was consequently arrested, The Grove, as it is know to locals, has always had it’s artsy flair. Besides the signature annual Coconut Grove Arts Festival, the Grove hosts many a road parade every year. With the birth of the Design District and Miami’s second generation of galleries and trendy retro-cool locales, the Grove is slowly recovering under a new guise… Grove 2.0! Places that were once occupied by restaurants and trendy stores that people used to wait in line to get into, have now reincarnated from empty shells to host world class ad agencies such as Crispin Porter Bogusky and Marca Hispanic, as well as the likes of Sony Music and several new media/Internet agencies such as Advansis Media, 39 Design, and Infinimedia among others. Also several local and global architecture firms have picked this quaint little part of Miami to be their office location of choice. The Grove Spot, a tranquil little restaurant/bar off Virginia st. Has become one of the locations of choice to host Refresh Miami; a meetup group created by Brian Breslin of Infinimedia which allows all sorts of technology junkies to meet up and talk shop or watch presentations about technology.
So, even if Miami has created new areas dedicated to Art in the traditional sense, the Grove has retained it’s capacity to attract artists; digital artists, architectural artists, and the artists that create 30 second clips that everyone sees when they are watching their favorite TV show or while flipping through a magazine…
Apple today released the Magic TrackPad, basically a standalone version of it’s revolutionary multi-touch trackpads from the Macbook Pro line of computers. This allows mac desktop users as well as older macbook and macbook pro users to have the ability to use multitouch to control their computers. The only issue, it’s Mac only (for now at least).
Also released is a new kind of battery charger which comes with 6 rechargeable batteries- let’s call it a new “smart charger” because it detects when the batteries are charged and essentially turns itself off to reduce power waste. Designed to be used with keyboards and mice etc, the batteries have an estimated 10 yr lifespan, so the ROI should be relatively obvious, as I dont think most electronics will even last that long

Do you use Google Docs? Do you use some other site frequently as a tool daily ? Webmail like Gmail, Hotmail, or any other site? There is a great application for the Mac called Fluid (http://fluidapp.com) which allows you to create an application of those sites, so you don’t have to have your browser open to use the site- instead it becomes an app that is easily accessible any time you need it.
